Keeping Our Identities Intact/Otis the Shark!

As a parent, when you have a special needs child, it is easy to lose yourself in the care of them. Jason has counseled me a few times on this matter. He wants me to make sure I do things for myself....because when she is gone....I'll need to know how to still be "me".

Recently Jason followed his own advice and I'm so glad! "Otis the Shark" is a book Jason wrote for his boys years ago. Printed pages, spiral bound, is all it ever was. When we first married I used to read it to the little kids when tucking them in. It's a story about a shark who runs away and his dad who saves the day. It rhymes and he drew the pictures himself on the old "paint" program. Makes me super nostalgic because I used to draw on that program too :-)

Over the years I toyed with wanting to get it published for him as a gift...but whenever I looked into it...it always seemed it would take more time than I had. Anyways the other night he reveals "Otis the Shark" on Amazon! I'm glad he's finding time for himself too :-)

It's so important that we all keep developing our identities independent of Sophia. She's such a humongous part of who we are right now. But one day we won't have the pleasure of caring for her 😢...and we'll need the other parts of ourselves to still be intact ☺

  1. We just got our copy in the mail. The kids loved it. Hyrum is wondering if there will be more Otis books. ;)
