Every Emergency Has Us Better Prepared

Every emergency has us better prepared to take care of dear Sophia :-) The first ER visit, we learned how to feed her on the go without her feeding machine :-) The second ER visit, we learned how to time a seizure. The 3rd ER (and subsequent hospital) visit, we learned to keep the hole open if the feeding tube falls out. On the 4th ER visit--we knew we needed to keep the g-tube site open... which saved her from having to get another surgery!  We also learned how to put the g-tube in ourselves!

I have to admit on that 4th ER visit Jason and I were feeling a bit frustrated. We were like "Really? What now? And why?". We both came up with the same answer the following day--Each time, we've learned better how to care for her.

Maybe that's because being better prepared will keep her with us longer? Maybe it's because when it comes down to it, we'll need the peace of mind, that we KNEW HOW to do everything that we could to have saved her? Maybe another unforeseen reason? Either way, the conclusion is that Heavenly Father knows what's ahead, and he always provides opportunities for us to be prepared :-)

...The day after a late night in the ER, Daddy takes a nap, but still has Sophia close with the nanny cam on his phone :-)...
